What to expect
Our assessments usually take around an hour, and our friendly, experienced social workers do their best to make sure it's a comfortable and relaxed experience. We're accredited expert mental capacity assessors, so you're in good hands.

Who can complete a mental capacity assessment?

Accreditations
Social Work England is a specialist body taking a new approach to regulating social workers in their vital roles. All of our Social Workers are registered with Social Work England for your peace of mind.
Our assessors are accredited Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) assessors with specific experience in completing capacity assessments and specialist reports.
All of our assessors have undergone extra training to become accredited financial vulnerability experts according to Lichtenberg standards, so they can provide even more detailed reports on mental capacity.
CASE STUDY
Rushpal lived in Denmark with her father; although both had spent the majority of their lives living and working in the Uk, Rushpal had initially moved to Denmark for work, and when her father Tajinder was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he moved in with her to be closer to family.
Once in Denmark, Tajinder's illness progressed, and Rushpal needed to support her father with managing her finances; this is where the difficulties started. Tajinder initially looked at completing a lasting power of attorney for her father. However, it transpired a lasting power of attorney was in place, a neighbour, something neither Rushpal or Tajinder were aware of; when Rushpal started looking into her father's accounts, money had been withdrawn on a weekly basis, even though he was now living in Denmark.
Rushpal contacted us to assess her father to create a new lasting power of attorney; however his illness had progressed to a point where he was unable to do this, so we ensured we had enough evidence to support the completion of a COP3 Deputyhsip order for Rushpal and Tajinder. Having this report order allowed the court of protection to appoint Rushpal as her father's deputy for finances and overturn the lasting power of attorney.
