Face to face mental capacity assessments are always going to be best practice. However, in those instances where this is not feasible, we offer a safe, secure and professional online mental capacity assessment vie our integrated Telehealth service.

Everything necessary is included, an assessment either face to face or via video link as well as a corresponding report. Where necessary our Social Workers will complete additional assessments such as a Montreal cognitive assessment and a financial decision tracker to strengthen their reports at no additional cos

Who can complete a mental capacity assessment?
In cases involving complex or major decisions, you may need to get a professional opinion. The assessor must be an impartial, qualified professional, such as a doctor, nurse, or social worker.

Accreditations
Social Work England is a specialist body taking a new approach to regulating social workers in their vital roles. All of our Social Workers are registered with Social Work England for your peace of mind.
Our assessors are accredited Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) assessors with specific experience in completing capacity assessments and specialist reports.
All of our assessors have undergone extra training to become accredited financial vulnerability experts according to Lichtenberg standards, so they can provide even more detailed reports on mental capacity.
CASE STUDY
The Covid-19 Pandemic changed the way we lived and had an impact on many people's lives. For Rachel, it resulted in some social anxiety.
Rachel wished to make a will but had previously had a road traffic injury resulting in an acquired brain injury; although she had recovered well, her solicitor was insistent that it was best practice for Rachel to have a testamentary capacity assessment to sit alongside her will.
While Rachel was managing her social anxiety well, the additional stress of undergoing an assessment and it being face to face was a large amount of pressure on her; when she called Nellie Supports, she expressed this anxiety, and our team suggested a video link assessment.
As it was a video link assessment, we were able to offer it the very next day, meaning Rachel could get it over and out of the way without weeks of anxiety building up.
