The UK's Only Care Funding Cap: £8,500 Maximum Guarantee

Protect Yourself From Spiralling Costs—No Matter How Complex Your Case Becomes

What Is the Nellie Supports Care Funding Cap?

What Is the Care Funding Cap?
Care funding cases are unpredictable. What starts as a simple CHC application can turn into appeals, local resolution meetings (LRM) hearings, and ombudsman complaints. Most providers charge per stage with no limit—leaving families with bills of £10,000, £15,000, or more.

We've created the UK's first—and only - care funding cap.

No matter where you start on your journey, how many appeals you need, or how many times your funding route changes, you'll never pay more than £8,500 (plus VAT) for our care funding support.
Once you reach the cap, we stop charging—but we keep working until your case is resolved.

Why the Care Funding Cap Changes Everything

How the Care Funding Cap Works

Transparent Hourly Rate

We charge £250 per hour (plus VAT) for expert, multi-professional care funding support. You only pay for the time we work—whether that's one hour or one hundred.

Set Package Prices

In addition to our hourly rate, we also offer set package prices for certain services. This gives clients even greater clarity and can help reduce overall costs, especially for more straightforward cases.

The £8,500 Cap
Once you've paid £8,500 (plus VAT), we stop billing—but we don't stop working. Your case continues with the same expert support until we reach a resolution.

Time Limit: 18 Months
The care funding cap applies for 18 months from the date of your first instruction. However, if a CHC appeal is underway at the 18-month mark, we'll continue providing support until that appeal is completed—at no additional cost once the cap is reached.

End User Protection
The care funding cap is specific to the end user (the individual or family receiving care funding support). It does not apply to referrers or third-party instructing parties.

No Hidden Fees
The only exclusions are third-party costs like medical records or independent expert reports, which we'd discuss upfront. Everything else is covered by the cap.

What's Included in the Care Funding Cap?

Retrospective CHC Claims
Backdated funding claims included, even though they're time-intensive

Continued Support Beyond the Cap

Will I Pay the Full £8,500?

Most clients pay far less.

The care funding cap is a safety net for complex, drawn-out cases. If your case resolves quickly—say with a one-hour consultation (£250) or a successful CHC application (£2000)—that's all you'll pay.

But here's why the cap matters:

While many families won't reach anywhere near £8,500—especially for straightforward consultations or successful applications—complex cases like CHC appeals, local resolution meetings (LRM) representation, and retrospective claims commonly cost families in excess of £15,000 with other providers.

Our care funding cap protects you from those spiralling costs, giving you certainty and peace of mind when you need it most.

What's NOT Included in the Care Funding Cap?

The care funding cap applies to care funding support only. The following services are available separately:

However, because we offer these in-house, you get seamless coordination without needing multiple providers.

Why Nellie Supports Created the Care Funding Cap

We've seen too many families devastated by spiralling legal costs—on top of the stress of navigating care funding itself.

The problem:
Most care funding providers charge per stage. A CHC appeal costs £3,500. local resolution meetings (LRM) Another £9,000. Ombudsman? £10,000 more. Before you know it, you've spent £15,000+ with no guarantee of success.

Our solution:
The UK's first care funding cap. You pay for what you need, but you're protected if your case becomes complex. Once you hit £8,500, we keep working—because your outcome matters more than our billable hours.

You're not just a client. You're part of the herd. And we don't leave our herd behind.

Your Care Funding Cap Guarantee Questions Answered

  • No. Most clients pay far less. The cap is a safety net for complex cases. If your case resolves quickly, you'll only pay for the hours worked at £250/hour (plus VAT).

  • Yes. The cap applies for 18 months from your first instruction. However, if a CHC appeal is underway at the 18-month mark, we'll continue supporting you until that appeal is completed—at no additional cost once you've reached the £8,500 cap.

  • If you've reached the £8,500 cap and a CHC appeal is underway, we'll continue until that appeal is completed at no additional cost. If you haven't reached the cap, you'll continue paying our standard hourly rate (£250 + VAT) until resolution or until the cap is reached.

  • All care funding support across all three routes: self-funding advice, NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) applications and appeals, Local Authority disputes and advocacy, care cost reviews, retrospective CHC claims, and transitions between funding routes. It does NOT include capacity assessments, social care services, or care planning—those are available as separate add-ons.

  • Yes. Whether you transition from self-funding to CHC, or CHC to Local Authority, the cap covers your entire journey—as long as it's within the 18-month period (or until CHC appeal completion if underway).

  • Because we're invested in your outcome, not just our billable hours. You're part of the herd—and we don't leave our herd behind.

  • No. The £8,500 cap is exclusive of VAT. Total cost including VAT: £10,200 maximum.

  • Yes. The care funding cap applies to your individual client (the end user receiving care funding support). However, it does not apply to you as the referrer or instructing party. Each client you refer benefits from their own £8,500 cap for their case.

  • No hidden fees. The only exclusions are third-party costs like medical records requests or independent expert reports, which we'd discuss with you upfront. Everything else—consultations, applications, appeals, tribunal representation, ombudsman support—is included in the £8,500 cap.

  • Most providers charge per stage with no cap: £2,500 for an appeal, £5,000 for tribunal, £3,000+ for ombudsman. Complex cases commonly cost families £15,000+ with other providers. Our cap gives you predictability and protection—and we support all three funding routes, not just CHC.

  • Those are separate services with their own pricing (capacity assessments from £496 + VAT, care planning from £1,200 + VAT). However, because we offer them in-house, you get seamless coordination without needing multiple providers. Your care funding support is still capped at £8,500 (plus VAT).

  • Yes. Retrospective CHC claims (backdated funding) are included in the £8,500 cap, even though they can be time-intensive due to the need to review historical records and gather evidence.

  • Absolutely. You can start with care funding support only (capped at £8,500 plus VAT), and if you later need capacity assessments, care planning, or ongoing case management through our Nellie+ plans, we're here. You're part of the herd from day one.

  • We'll give you an honest assessment during your free consultation. If we think your case will resolve quickly, we'll tell you. If we anticipate appeals or route transitions, we'll explain the likely timeline and costs—but you'll know your maximum is £8,500 (plus VAT).

  • Then you'll pay £250 plus VAT (£300 total). There's no minimum commitment. The guarantee simply protects you from spiralling costs if your case becomes drawn-out or complex.

  • If a CHC appeal is underway at the 18-month mark and you've reached the £8,500 cap, we'll continue providing support until that appeal is completed—at no additional cost. Your protection continues until resolution.

  • We'll agree on a payment structure during your initial consultation—typically monthly invoicing based on hours worked. You'll always know what you're paying and why.

  • The cap is specific to each individual case/end user. If you're supporting multiple family members with separate care funding cases, each would have their own £8,500 cap.
